Mercantile Market in Highland Park!

Des Moines Mercantile is one of those local institutions that feels like it has always been around.

The Norman Rockwell-esque storefront is full of beautiful essentials you’ll find yourself reaching for every day. Personally, I love their Alpaca wool balls for laundry — so chic and also vaguely Amish.

If you’ve never had the chance to visit then their upcoming event this Sunday is the perfect excuse! From 1 - 6 on Sunday, October 23 they’re hosting their semi-annual Mercantile Market.

Note that two baking-centric vendors (Bread by Chelsa B and Laurel Baking Company) had to drop out at the last minute. So keep in mind the graphic you’ll see on IG isn’t 100% reflective of who’s going to be there. In lieu of their absence, though, I’m excited to finally sample a pie from Piebird! Bread by Chelsa B and Piebird will be opening a storefront of their own sometime next year, so this is your chance to become a loyal customer pre-brick-and-mortar.

Follow Mercantile’s Instagram to stay abreast of market updates over the next few days, as well as gorgeous photos over the next few months. Mallory, the owner and chief Instagrammer, consistently fills my feed with enchanting images full of heart. It’s a local favorite, for sure.

See you there?
