The 101 on Hinterland 2021

After being postponed last year for obvious reasons, Hinterland Music Festival is back in full force for 2021. Here’s what you need to know….

  1. Tickets are still available for the most part, but general admission for Saturday are gone.

  2. In the past, you could ride a shuttle from Southridge Mall to the festival grounds, but this year you’ll have to make the trek yourself. Thankfully, the drive to St. Charles is scenic. However, official parking is sold out and there isn’t much info on what attendees are supposed to do besides carpool or Uber.

  3. Tanya Tucker dropped out due to a recent hip surgery, but Zach Lane Bryan was quickly added to the lineup. I’m curious how they added him so quickly (and how they go about booking musicians to begin with because their lineups have always been solid).

  4. They just announced food options.

It goes without saying because it’s August, but make sure to stay hydrated! In 2019, I didn’t drink enough water and passed out while Brandi Carlile sang ‘the Joke’. Thankfully, the grass was soft and the crowds were compassionate. I’ll never forget the sight of a thousand hands reaching out to me from the semi-dark.

Enjoy the shows!
